STORE POLICIES

MULTIPLE ORDERS: We do combine multiple orders, as long as any other orders have not been shipped when your new order is placed. If we are able to combine orders, we will refund the excess shipping charges.

LOCAL PICKUP: We are located in St. Anthony, ID. If local pickup is selected, we will verify that your address is in our local pickup service zone, which is St. Anthony, ID and surrounding towns. Leave us a note upon checkout when you will plan on picking up your order (date and time). We do not offer same-day pickup on any orders that include deodorants, which are made-to order, and instead will require 3-5 days for processing and preparing your order. Upon order receipt, we will then contact you with pickup instructions, and will ensure that your order is ready and waiting for you at your scheduled time. We currently offer contactless pickup.

INTERNATIONAL ORDERS:
We do not currently offer International Shipping through this website, with the exception of Canada. We will not under-declare a package's value, and we will not mark your order as a gift. You will likely be charged extra taxes or customs fees before you are able to pick up your package. These fees will be your responsibility. In the event an international package is refused by you (the buyer), we will not be able to refund you your shipping cost, but will refund the combined price for all merchandise as soon as the items are back in our possession undamaged. If we do not receive the package for any reason, we cannot offer a refund. If you refuse an international package, this will be at your own risk.

OUT OF STOCK ITEMS: On occasion, our actual inventory quantities may be less than what we actually have on-hand. Sometimes this happens when selling on multiple platforms where inventory takes time to "sync" between storefronts (as is our case). In the event that you order an item and we do not currently have enough of it in stock, we will contact you and ask if you would like a refund or a replacement item of a similar type. If we do not hear back from you within 3 business days, we will simply refund the cost of that item so we can ship your order out to you promptly and on-schedule!

SHIPPING & HANDLING: As we are a small business, we cannot provide Amazon-style shipping prices and time frames. We do charge a small handling fee with each order, which helps to pay for all the packaging supplies needed to get your order to you safely. Our processing times are currently roughly 3-5 business days for ALL orders, though this is subject to change and is not a guarantee.

OTHER US CUSTOMER SHIPPING INFORMATION:
Please be aware that your package will ship USPS Priority Mail or USPS First Class Package only. Orders of $100.00 and up will require a signature upon delivery of item. If this is not convenient for you, you may leave us a note upon checkout waiving the signature-required delivery. Upon doing so, you agree that you will not hold us liable if something detrimental happens to your package. If the tracking shows your package was delivered and you claim you did not receive your package, we cannot file a claim with the USPS. No refunds or replacements will be given in this situation. If your order is less than the $100 signature-required threshold, but you are concerned about your delivery being lost or stolen, please contact us and we will add a signature-required delivery for your order, no matter the amount of the order. This may require an additional payment.

We are not responsible for any packages that are marked "Delivered" by any courier service and that go missing or are stolen. We also cannot be held liable for misdelivery, nondelivery, or late delivery. Once orders leave our hands, they are the shipping courier's responsibility. Missing or suspected stolen packages need to be reported to your local post office or local law enforcement agencies respectively.

REFUNDS, EXCHANGES, AND CANCELLATIONS:
No returns or exchanges of any kind will be allowed due to the fact that our products are personal/bath products. All sales are final. For sanitary purposes, once a product leaves our supervision and has been removed from the original shipping box and packaging, it cannot be re-sold. The contents within unopened and undamaged packages marked as "refused" will be subject to a 20% restocking fee. Once the items are refused and returned in undamaged condition you will be refunded the order's purchase price, minus the restocking fee and any shipping fees associated with your order. If items are refused and returned damaged, we will not refund the cost of any damaged items. PLEASE NOTE that when a package is "refused", it is not tracked back to the shipper. When you refuse a package, you run the risk of the package becoming lost or damaged in transit. We cannot guarantee that we will receive your refused item. No refund will be given in the event that a refused package does not return to us. Refuse packages only at your own risk.

If your order arrives and the items inside are damaged, please contact us within 7 days of delivery with photographic evidence of the damage incurred, and we will file a claim with the USPS on your behalf. We will need documentation from the customer to file any claims. Do not refuse the package.

Refunds will be determined on an individual basis, and will not be offered for any reason 30 days after purchase. NO refunds will be given based on scent, texture, or variation in colors or design. We do our best to describe the scents based upon the fragrance and essential oils that are used and descriptions given from our fragrance oil suppliers and manufacturers. Even un-fragranced soap will have a slight scent due to the other ingredients used. On occasion, an un-fragranced soap bar may absorb scent based on the soap surrounding it on the curing rack, but there will be no fragrance oil added to these soaps whatsoever. Furthermore, handmade soaps and shampoo bars are artisan products, and no two bars will ever be the same. Variations in color or design are to be expected when ordering these types of products, and we make no guarantee that the bar you receive will look exactly like the bars pictured.

We develop our recipes based on what works for our dry/sensitive skin, our family’s skin, and what works in our water. Not only do all people have different skin types but we also use different water (soft, hard, etc.). Both factors will affect how our handcrafted soap will lather as well as how skin will feel after use. Our soaps have been tested by many different people in many different regions with great results.

Orders cannot be cancelled once they have been shipped. Additionally, we reserve the right to cancel any unshipped order.

ZERO-TOLERANCE POLICY:
We do not tolerate harassment, abusive behavior, or any other such negative behavior toward any Syringa Soapery representative or employee. If any problem arises with your order, know that we will do our best to rectify the problem in a fair and equitable manner. If there is a breach of this policy, you will be banned from browsing or ordering from our store permanently.

PRODUCT INFORMATION:

ABOUT OUR SOAPS: Our soaps are hand-mixed, hand-poured, hand-cut, and hand-packaged. Weights will vary from bar to bar and batch to batch. That is the nature of a handmade product. Most of our soaps will fall in the 4 oz. weight range upon packaging. Handcrafted soap will continue to evaporate water and will continually lose weight as this water is shed. However, a bar that has lost more water will be a longer lasting soap bar despite the lower weight.

We make our soaps using the "cold process" method, in which melted oils and butters are combined with an alkali (which has traditionally been Lye or Sodium Hydroxide), in order to turn those oils into what we call soap. The official scientific term for this process is "saponification". There is no lye remaining in the final product using this method.

ABOUT OUR SHAMPOO BARS: Our shampoo bars are detergent-based. While they do contain surfactants and detergents, they are naturally-derived and are very gentle on skin and hair. These bars should be kept dry when not in use, and should never be left in standing water to preserve and extend their shelf-life. We recommend placing them on a well-draining soap dish after use, which will allow the bar to dry out more thoroughly.

ABOUT OUR DEODORANTS: Our deodorants are oil and beeswax based. Full-size plastic sticks are roughly 3 oz. in weight (not including the tube), Eco-tube sticks are 2.5 oz. and our sample sizes are 1 oz. They do not require refrigeration, however, they do soften and can melt if left in warm temperatures for long periods of time. Naturally-based deodorant has many benefits over conventional deodorants due to the properties of the ingredients used. Coconut oil and African shea butter are excellent for moisturizing and softening skin. Arrowroot powder perfectly absorbs excess moisture, while baking soda is a great odor eliminator. White kaolin clay has a neutral pH, and unlike some other clays, it softens the skin, leaving it toned and healthy without being dry. Finally, beeswax is known for its barrier-forming properties, so it helps protect your underarms without clogging your pores.  While our deodorants do contain baking soda, we use an amount that is unlikely to irritate skin. Another possible side-effect of deodorants containing baking soda is that your underarms may become slightly darker from use. This is a normal reaction, and will go away within a few weeks of stopping use of a deodorant that contains baking soda.

ABOUT OUR INGREDIENTS:
We use high quality plant oils and butters in our soap and shampoo bar recipes, as well as in our deodorant. Note the ingredients for each product listed to know exactly what is in the product you are purchasing. We have been known to use almond milk, goat milk, coffee, and distilled water in our soaps, and different liquids may be used in the future. All soaps and shampoo bars contain sodium hydroxide (which is the scientific name for lye). However, the sodium hydroxide is neutralized in the saponification process (which is what happens when oils turn into soap) and is what turns our melted oil blend into what we know as soap. TRUE BAR SOAP cannot be made without sodium hydroxide.

We scent all of our soaps with fragrance oils or essential oils. Please use caution whenever using a body product containing essential oils, and be informed and know what essential oils may affect your body and medical issues in what way. We use essential oils for scent only and do not advertise products containing them as a method of healing any ailments. We strictly follow IFRA (International Fragrance Association) regulations for the safe usage of fragrance oils in our recipes, and ensure that all fragrance oils we use are high-quality, skin-safe, and from reputable suppliers. Our information concerning phthalate-containing products may change over time without notification. Strength of scent after cure will vary so some soaps will have a lighter or stronger scent than others.

We color our soaps using micas, oxides, pigments, natural herbal or clay-based colorants, and titanium dioxide which is a naturally occurring whitening agent. Some colorants will ‘bleed’ some of their color or may produce a colored lather. This is normal. We also top our soap with natural, botanical ingredients (such as dried lavender buds or rose petals) on occasion. All toppings (such as botanicals, mica swirls, or spa salts) typically wash off with the first use or the first few uses.
